It is great to be able to kick off your investing journey by getting a free sign up bonus from an investment broker… it puts you in the green before you even invest a cent of your own money.

In this blog post, I will give you a brief summary of three different brokerages that offer generous signup bonuses to Irish investors – Trading 212, BUX Zero, and Degiro.

Trading 212 has one of the best user experiences when it comes to its mobile trading app (also available on Desktop).

It recently added a social trading aspect which allows you to interact with other investors which can make investing really fun. If you are an out and out beginner then Trading 212 also have a Demo Account where you can do all your learning with fake money.

Another unique feature of Trading 212 is its Pie’s feature which allows investors to easily maintain a diversified portfolio over the long term. With the click of a button, you can rebalance your portfolio to your chosen allocation rates.

BUX Zero

Key Features

Fractional Share InvestingAuto Investment FeatureGreat Educational Content
Stocks, ETFsNo Minimum DepositNo Demo Account
CryptoEarnings and Dividend CalendarLow Fees

BUX Zero are one of the newest brokerages on the block in Ireland and is a great option if you want a nice easy to use mobile trading app.

They are constantly adding more and more stocks and ETFs to their low fee platform. In terms of choice of what you can invest in, they currently offer US, Belgian, Austrian, German, Spanish, French, Italian, and Dutch stocks as well a huge variety of ETFs.

Another string to their bow is that you can invest in crypto through BUX zero. You won’t have the same functionality of being able to actually use the crypto compared to when you buy it on an official crypto exchange such as Coinbase. But if you are solely interested in price appreciation the BUX Zero works just fine.

Another cool feature they have is their Auto Investment Plans which allows you to automate your investing in ETFs. This is perfect for someone who doesn’t want to spend much time logging in and choosing what to invest in every so often.

Degiro

Key Features

Stocks, ETFsWarrantsExcellent Charts/Stats
BondsForexMargin Trading
Options (Mostly European)Commodities TradingNo Demo Account
Futures TradingCompany Financial InfoLow Fees

Degiro offers the most in terms of variety in what you can invest in, compared to the other brokerages. It is one of the few places you can invest in the likes of Bonds, Warrants and Options.

It is not as geared towards beginner investors as Trading 212 and BUX Zero, it may be slightly intimidating to newbies. There is no demo account for new users to get up to speed. Also if you are investing with small sums it’s important to know that Degiro does not have fractional share investing.

All three brokerages you are covered by an investor protection scheme that will cover your investments up to a level of €20,000, if the unlikely event were to happen that one of the brokers went bankrupt and they were unable return the value of your investments.
