TikTok is slowly becoming the most popular social media platform in the world, especially among younger age demographics. No matter what social media platform there is, you will always have people wanting to be able to monetise their content.
Unfortunately, the TikTok creator fund is currently unavailable to Irish based creators, but creators can now earn money by making premium content for their followers through TikTok’s Series function which allows you to put content behind a paywall.

TikTok Series allows you to create premium content which you think your audience would be willing to pay a small price to view. This could be educational content, workouts, cooking recipes, or anything you can think of.
You can create up to 80 videos as part of a series, TikTok encourage you to make more longer form content compared to what you normally see on TikTok, which is regularly videos of 60 seconds of less.
You get to set the price of your series which can range from $0.99 to $189.99. TikTok will then take a cut of this income, for example if you charged $4.99 for your Series, then you will earn $3.49 after TikTok takes their cut ,plus taxes, and foreign exchange charges.
In order to access Series, you must have at least 10k followers, be over 18, and have at least 1k authentic views over the past 30 days.
What are the eligibility requirements for joining the TikTok creator fund?
To be a part of the creator fund in eligible countries you will need the following:
– Be at least 18 years of age
– Have 10,000 followers
– Have gained 100,000 views in the last 30 days
– Have content that complies with communities guidelines
– Be based in the US, UK, France, Germany, Spain or Italy
When the next batch of regions is inevitably, Ireland will have a great chance of being added especially with Tiktok (the company) actually having a presence in Ireland.
How can you make money on TikTok in Ireland when you are not in the creator fund?
Even if the creator fund was available to Irish-based creators it does not pay very well. At most, you can expect $0.02 – $0.04 per 1,000 views, which won’t really pay the bills for you. At that rate, 1,000,000 views will only pay you $20-$40.
But all is not lost, there are many other ways you can make money from your TikTok content, besides the Series function. Let’s go through a couple of ways people are currently making some income.
Affiliate Marketing: This is promoting products and services to your followers and when they use your link or discount code to buy that product/service, you earn a commission. One of the biggest affiliate programs out there is the Amazon Associate program.
What affiliate program you sign up for will depend on what niche you are making content in. There are thousands of programs you can sign up for and some of them can be very lucrative.
Sponsorships: The bigger your account gets the more businesses you will have reaching out to you to make content using their products or trying out their services. Depending on how many views you are getting you could be charging a couple of hundred euro for a single post and this post may only be less than a minute long (easy money!!).
Cameo: if you have a close relationship with your follower they may want to get personalised messages from you for some special occasion. With Cameo you can charge a fee for those private video messages.
Patreon: if people feel like they are getting value from your content they may want to reward you for it. Patreon is a way your fans can support you by giving you as little as the price of a coffee every month.
Use TikTok to promote your products or business: The beauty of TikTok is that you can reach thousands of people very quickly compared to other social media platforms which may or may not even show your followers your post.
TikTok is a fantastic way of getting organic traffic to generate sales for your business if you can come up with some interesting content that keeps people engaged.
These are just a couple of ideas for monetisation but there are many, many more ways to do it if you think creatively.
